Percolator, formed in 2009, consists of Ian Chestnutt, John ‘Spud’ Murphy, and Eleanor Myler. Drawing influence from krautrock, shoegaze, post punk, and progressive and experimental rock, the band have been compared to Swans with a leaning towards Neu!’s krautrock driven rhythms. Having produced a string of Singles and EPs, the band released their debut albium ‘Sestra’ in April 2017 to critical acclaim on Penske Recordings (The Altered Hours, The Jimmy Cake) and Permafrost (France). The Thin Air described it as ‘the album of the year so far, and one that fully confirms Percolator as the most exciting Irish band since Girl Band”. After a successful Irish tour and headlining slot at Body & Soul’s Bulmer’s Lounge, the trio embarked on a French tour in June/July.
The band are due to start recording sessions for their second album in November and are currently organising UK and EU tours for Spring 2018. - Overblown
“Sestra is a gripping, intriguing, tripping, original and paradoxical, experimental album. It is extremely demanding and confusing, but it is nevertheless a virtuoso in the art of capturing catchy, captivating, bewitching melodies. What blows here is the perfume of total freedom, as a metaphor of the world that is our today, as magnificently sublime as it may be horribly devastated. Sestra is one of those albums for public warned, for those who believed that everything had been said. This was clearly not the case“ -Burn-your-life
