Mark Durkan & Office of Good Ideas: Free Market
Sun 10th Feb | 11:00 – 15:00 | St. Peters Church
This market place project, entitled free market will act as a temporary experiment exploring radical community financing and the democratization of financial tools for collective strategic planning. Together with the street we would like to develop a temporary financial system within the context of a street market following core aims/questions:
1. Using a narrative frame and unconventional physical participation methodologies analogous with digital coin offerings to question value transference by re-identifying money as a technical object of social design.
2. Exploring how a collaborative discursive model and democratically-voted participatory budgeting system could activate the community stakeholders and drive the market economy towards a long term strategic outcome.
Mark Durkan and the Danish change organisation Workz are in residence to develop a proposal for the street for the 2020 festival. Free market was developed as part of the Common Ground supported by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
